Basically, if you can get to tier3 (the only support tier that can actually do anything useful), then you ask for your max delays to be lowered to 8. Original post leads back to;

http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/gamin...-fastpath.html

Good luck getting through to tier3, :}.

Sky wont change max delays anymore.

Quote:
Its seems that Tier 3 have now been told that they cannot adjust the Max Delay settings anymore because....its not an official procedure yet.
I honestly wouldn’t recommend sky in a million years, ive had nothing but an unstable, slow, high ping, connection dropping, laggy, piece of **** connection ever since i switched from blueyonder. I even have to put up with it for over a year, its pathetic.

they are pretty useless, VM @ uni 4meg is: http://www.speedtest.net/result/188908765.png pretty awesome

sky will close your ticket if you dont call them back within a day, even when they are meant to be calling you back. easiest way of getting to tier2 (someone from the UK who knows what they are on about) is to go with the intermittent connection spiel. once there you will be able to explain to them exactly what they want and they will pass you on to tier3, who can make sure your line is sync’d properly, and lower your max delays. having said this, after getting through to tier2 about 5 times now, im yet to speak to tier 3, as they never call you back and then someone closes your ticket saying its been resolved. ****s

My sky is absolutely perfect
about 500kbs download speed
constant low pings
1 connection drop in the last 6 months or so
Virgin Media was the complete opposite, so i’m glad i swapped.

Preferably to 8, otherwise your line will get seriously unstable.

I’ve tried myself to get through to tier3 with no luck, but then again, since i’m not the contract holder i won’t be able to get through the security questions..

It should be ok

"All

After reviewing the sky forums sites, recent escalations from customers and after discussions with Marketing, please can you implement the following

Should any customer be transferred to Tier 3 and request for their max delay levels to be decreased as a result of them using their broadband connection for Gaming, please arrange for this to be done. You should look to set their max delays at 8. Please ensure you leave the customer with a stable line after completing this."

Alfiehh you are my idol actually getting something sorted through any kind of BB call centre.

Im with VM (at home) and my ping randomly shoots up to over 200 at ANY time, especially on peak times, it makes me rage so hard. tried several times to phone/email/write with no luck so far, im not sure there is anything they can do, i think they are just ****e.

can this max delays thing be requested with all BB providers or just sky?

alfieh you got lucky, as they told me they never transfer to tier3 unless you have a ticket open with them already. they only transfer you to tier 2 once the problem is properly explained to them approx 10 times, then t3 from there

Rolo i lied and said i phoned up 2 days before as they delete the ticket after a day and she said they didn’t put one through. So i said i need the net fixed ASAP due to Uni so she put me through to tier 3 and they fixed it now my ping is like 30 wohooo!!

Yeh they give you default settings so you phone up to tell them to fix them and when they are fixed you’ll be laughing at how perfect the connection becomes
